The Historian in Residence
Ms. Christy
Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand.

The Historian in Residence Unit on The Underground Railroad involves an examination of a slave's life from capture in Africa to the tedious life on a plantation. We also try to experience what life was like for the people on the Underground Railroad who would risk their lives or livelihoods to help fugitive slaves. As we go along, we play some role playing games and create pieces of art to better understand the whole world of the Underground Railroad, from the perspective of the runaway slave and from the perspective of the people who helped them.
