The Historian in Residence Unit on The Civil War concerns many elements of the war but centers on the major battles. We start with the Election of 1860 and follow the major battles and themes through Lincoln's Assassination. In the course of this unit, students create a book of battle diaries including maps they create of each major battle. As we go along, we play some role playing games to give students a sense of what was involved in these battles. Click on different submarines at left to examine these elements of Ms. Christy's unit.
